HISTORY is what has happened to us in the past. HERITAGE is what, in the present, we understand about our history. HOPE is what we give to the future based upon what has happened to us in the past and what we understand about that experience. It was important for other groups to deny our history in order to make us misunderstand our heritage and thereby eliminate our ability to produce the hope that is so nessary for the future generations. They were ALMOST successful.
